Iran Reports Attack on American Facility in the Kingdom of Bahrain, As Part of Regional Counterattacks.
Tehran reports attacking a US naval base in Manama, as Iran launched missile attacks across the region in response for a large-scale and ongoing offensive against it by the US and Israel.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area near the main base of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any destruction is not yet known and the US has yet to issue a statement.
Regional Interceptions
Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - all home to American military installations - stated they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their airspace.
In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry announced it had intercepted a number of projectiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.
IRGC Statement
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard declared it was targeting American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the attack on the Islamic Republic carried out by the US and Israel on Saturday.
That initial attack - executed at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far targeted areas associated with the Tehran's leadership, with US President Donald Trump urging the Iranian people to rise up against the government.
Wider Impacts
In Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israeli military reported it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The Ministry of Defence of the UAE said in a statement that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems responded to the missiles with high efficiency and successfully intercepted a number of missiles," it added.
Officials reported missile fragments landed in a populated district in Abu Dhabi, causing some material damage and fatalities.
The United States Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
