From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of personalities, and a thrilling plot including divine entities, evil spirits, and malevolent powers expanding in power within Dol-Makjar.
Note: Revealing details for the latest installment of the new season follow below.
The Soldiers Table Revealed
Episode 3 finished on a dramatic pause and presented the premier party of heroes who will branch out from the central cast to begin their own adventure, distinct from the other two tables.
This warrior group consists of the determined fighter (portrayed by Travis Willingham), the agile character (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).
Dividing the Cast
Considering 13 cast members, it was evident from the beginning that keeping everyone at one table would be impossible.
Hence, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, intertwining the characters’ stories before branching into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Strategists, and Questers.
The Nature of the Warrior Group
As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who enjoy a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven narrative style where non-violent answers are rare.
At first glance, characters like the hesitant healer the cleric might appear unsuited, but the events of the third episode make it clear why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the warrior group.
Motivations for Departure
For one thing, the group understands precisely where to proceed after a violent opening clash with The Crow Keepers.
An old friend of Thjazi—whose passing initiated the story’s plot—manipulated the foes for his own means, entering the hidden lair, striking the character, and stealing all the powerful objects to auction.
The antagonist then settled his debts and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, above Dol-Makjar, with Cyd pursuing him.
Character Drivers
Secondly, each member has a individual motive to leave the city the metropolitan area:
- The rogue, as the close ally and best friend, seeks vengeance.
- Kattigan is familiar with the region and warns that it is a hostile place.
- The strong character and The healer, having resisted his relatives’ demands to eliminate the fighter and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their position as prominent individuals in the powerful family could enable the group reach locations they normally couldn’t.
- Moreover, The fighter vowed a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his rescue and will now accompany him wherever.
Wanted and Hunted
In addition, all of them are hunted by the rulers that control the city for a range of causes, making remaining behind dangerous:
- Thimble and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
- The warrior and Wicander defied the influential house and the legion of demons they are allied with.
- The fighter is marked for death by the clan.
This leaves them little choice but to head to the remote area in pursuit of the traitor.
Future Episodes
From the recent installment’s Cooldown, we learn that the combat party won’t be around the following episode, leaving the remaining eight participants to assemble the Explorers and Schemers tables.
Audiences can look forward to discovering which adventurers will be where in Campaign 4’s concluding setup installment, released on next week.
