The UK is set to progress with utilizing the entire amount of immobilized Russia's funds to aid Ukraine's defense operations, PM Sir Keir Starmer has stated.
In a joint statement, the officials of the UK, the French Republic, and Germany asserted that this unified step would increase strain on Moscow's head Vladimir Putin and urge the Russian Federation to engage in negotiations.
They added that the initiative would be implemented in tight collaboration with the America.
British sanctions have frozen over £25bn of Russian funds since Russia began its widespread offensive against the Ukrainian nation in 2022. Yet, previously, funds provided to Ukraine using Russian holdings had exclusively been drawn from earnings and returns generated on them.
Sir Keir assured Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that the UK, the French Republic, and the Federal Republic of Germany were aligned in their aim to push forward toward using the full value of the seized Russia's state funds to halt hostilities.
He stated that further sanctions in the coming days and weeks would increase the strain on Russia.
This declaration is subsequent to EU leaders met in the Danish capital recently to consider employing frozen Russia's funds for a €140bn loan to the Ukrainian nation.
Recently, American leader Donald Trump urged G7 allies to confiscate or employ seized Russian holdings, as reported by reports.
The total of immobilized Russia's assets in the European Union is calculated to be approximately €211bn.

Moscow launched widespread bombardments across Ukraine on that day, leading to electricity outages in many areas of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv, and eight other regions.

While applauding the United Kingdom's strong support for Kyiv, he noted it should demonstrate clearly that it would take part in the initiative, as well as impose more sanctions on Moscow.
